When I entered the National Museum of Fine Arts in the Philippines, I was immediately struck by the grandeur of the building and the quiet reverence that filled the space. Seeing Juan Luna’s Spoliarium up close gave me chills—it was larger and more powerful than I ever imagined, and it made me feel a deep sense of pride and sorrow at the same time. As I walked through the galleries, I felt like I was traveling through time, witnessing the struggles, triumphs, and beauty of Filipino culture and history through the eyes of our artists. The museum wasn’t just a place to admire art—it was an emotional experience that reminded me of the resilience and creativity of the Filipino spirit. I left the museum with a full heart and a renewed appreciation for our heritage.
